Notes
Green-tinged pale yellow. Brimming with aromas of ripe green orchard fruit, roasted grains and a poignant marine influenced tone of crushed oyster shells. Penetrating, weighted and expressive. Perfectly balanced by a firm natural acid spine that runs through a slight oily texture just behind its primary green fruited and mineral tones. Aromatically it speaks of the old world. Texturally it’s distinctly Hyde, densely weighted yet seamlessly buttressed. A standout vintage for this bottling.

Coche-Dury fans will love this 2020 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard, which turns up the volume and expression of the characteristically tensile, flinty Chardonnay from Hyde Vineyard. Opening with tones of struck match, it takes plenty of time in the glass to unfurl its concentrated white peach, apricot, lime peel, baking spice and pie crust aromas. The palate offers a fantastically satiny texture, seamless acidity and a tremendously long finish.

A really fragrant nose of matchstick, roasted almonds, toasted herbs and grilled lemons. Medium-to full-bodied with great, oily texture and weight. So much depth here. Big presence, but really precise. Warm citrus and a hint of savory spice. Phenolic. Delicious wine. Needs time to soften.

The 2020 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard is sunny with pineapple, a hint of flinty reduction, and well-balanced vanilla bean oak spice. It is beautifully layered and has a luxurious feel. with notes of ripe peach, lemon curd. and underlying saline minerality. A classic, benchmark style to cellar another year or so and drink 2023-2032.
